Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka Police Blotters: Oct. 19 - Oct. 25

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from official reports compiled by the police departments of Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka as a record of police activity and of those arrested. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state, which are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

STOLEN CAR

Someone stole a Mercedes from a driveway in the 400 block of Sheridan Road during the overnight hours of Oct. 19-20. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside before it was taken.

THEFT

A resident in the 700 block of Bluff Street reported that someone had stolen jewelry from a private home. It was reported on the afternoon of Oct. 21 but it is not known when it occurred.

ARRESTS

A 22-year-old Waukegan man was arrested on Oct. 21 at 4:55 a.m. near the intersection of Dundee Road and Pebblewood Lane and charged with driving without a valid license and illegal transportation of alcohol after a traffic stop. He was also issued a ticket for disobeying a traffic control device.

A 24-year-old Milwaukee, Wisconsin man was arrested Oct. 22 at 2:21 a.m. at Dundee Road and I-94 and charged with driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

A 23-year-old Glencoe man and a 20-year-old Urbana man were pulled over for speeding around 11:22 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the 700 block of Dundee Road. The driver, from Glencoe, was charged with speeding and illegally transporting alcohol. The passenger was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and issued a citation for possession of more than 2.5 grams of marijuana.


NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

THEFT

Someone stole a large, 500-pound boulder from the end of a driveway in the 200 block of Lagoon Drive sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 19. Police are investigating.

BURGLARY

Someone opened a garage door and stole a bicycle from a home in the 600 block of North Happ Road during the overnight hours on Oct. 17-18. The bicycle was described as a black Giant mountain bike with a value of $375.

FRAUD

A resident in the 500 block of Earl Drive was selling an item on a website when they received a check, purportedly from an interested buyer, for more than the asking price of the item on the website. After the resident was told they could keep the difference, the incident was reported to police as an attempted fraud.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

TRESPASSING/BURGLARIES

Someone rummaged through six unlocked vehicles parked in driveways and one parked in a garage in the 600 block of Walden Road during the overnight hours of Oct. 18-19, but nothing was immediately reported missing.

STOLEN CAR

Someone stole an unlocked car that had a key left inside from the area of the 600 block of Green Bay Road. The vehicle was discovered missing between 4:30 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 19 and later found outside of Winnetka.

ARRESTS

Shane Allen Diehl-Bremer, 20, of the 7100 block of South Perry Avenue, Chicago, was arrested for criminal trespassing to a motor vehicle after an investigation into attempted car burglaries that had previously occurred in the area.

A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested Oct. 21 at 9:44 p.m. near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Oak Street and charged with driving with a suspended license after an investigation of a traffic crash in which he was involved. He was also cited with driving too fast for conditions.
