'Well Over 100 Phone Calls' Led To Harassment Charge: Blotter

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced.

A resident in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue reported on Jan. 29 that someone had tried to make two unauthorized purchases using their credit card account. There was no immediate report of a loss.

THEFT

A resident of the 700 block of Prospect Drive reported on Feb. 8 that someone had stolen jewelry from their home between Dec. 24 and Dec. 26.

ARRESTS

A 34-year-old Highwood man was arrested in the 300 block of Woodlawn Avenue and charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to yield and operating an uninsured vehicle.

ARREST

Adam Zbroja, 36, of the 5500 block of Carriageway Drive in Rolling Meadows, was arrested shortly before 10 a.m. on Feb. 8 in the 300 block of Hazel Avenue and charged with violation of bail, bond or an order of protection.

NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident of the 200 block of Norfolk Road in Northfield reported at 1:20 p.m. on Feb. 5 that someone stole their identity and used it to open several authorized accounts. Police are investigating.

HOME BURGLARY

A resident in the 200 block of Lagoon Drive in Northfield reported at 12:50 p.m. on Feb. 6 that they had seen a suspicious man, described as a 5 foot 8 inch to 5 foot 10 inch black man wearing a dark colored jacket, in a neighbor’s yard. A witness said when they confronted the man he fled on foot. Cops found a fresh burglary at a home where the man had first been seen.

FORGERY

A business in the 300 block of South Happ Road reported at 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 8 that an employee stole and forged several checks. The business decided not to press charges, but the employee was terminated and banished from the property.

HOME BURGLARY

A resident in the 400 block of Edens Lane reported at 9:10 p.m. on Feb. 8 that someone had burglarized their home sometime after 6 p.m. that night and stole jewelry and cash.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 25-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 7:06 a.m. on Feb. 7 in the 1900 block of Willow Road and charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.

A 31-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 7:38 p.m. on Feb. 10 near the intersection of Willow and Waukegan roads and charged with driving without a valid license and without a rear license plate light or insurance.

A 40-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 10:43 p.m. on Feb. 11 at the Northfield Police Department after a resident known to her of the 100 block of Riverside Drive in Northfield reported that she had made "well over 100 calls" that day, ignoring requests from the resident and police to "cease and desist making calls." She was charged with misdemeanor harassment by telephone. The charge was dismissed March 1.
