Wilmette Egg Hunts For Kids And Dogs

The 1st Annual Doggy Egg Hunt and the 2nd annual Egg Hunt for children are sponsored by the Wilmette Park District.

WILMETTE, IL — The Wilmette Park District is holding its 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Howard Park, on April 15 at 9:45 a.m.. The event is for children ages 10 and under, and registration tickets are required.

Kids will be divided into the following age groups: 1-2, 3-4, 5-7, 8-10 Multiple hunts will take place at the same time. All eggs will contain candy, and some will contain special prizes that are handed out at the end of the hunt, organizers said.

A special visit by the Easter Bunny will provide photo opportunities and participants will received a coloring book. Parents or guardians will not be allowed on the field except with the youngest age group.

Pre-registration is required as there will be no on-site registration. Families are asked to check in 15 minutes prior to the hunt and bring their own baskets for collecting eggs.

The Wilmette Park District also announced its first ever Doggie Egg Hunt will follow the kids event at Gillson Park. Dogs will sniff out treat-filled eggs. Some some may contain special coupons for additional prizes.

The hunt begins at 1 p.m. for small dogs (under 25 pounds) and 1:30 for large dogs.

Only one handler—at least 18 years old—allowed per dog. All dogs must stay on leash the whole time, have current rabies tags and be at least four months old to participate.

Tickets cost $7 for residents and $9 for non-residents for each human or canine participant. Both events may be cancelled due to inclement weather.
