Winnetka Woman Left Dog in Hot Car While Shopping: Cops

The 48-year-old faces a charge of ill treatment of animals after police found the Irish setter with no water.

A Winnetka woman who allegedly left her dog in a hot car for more than 30 minutes while she was shopping at a Deerfield store has been charged with ill treatment of animals.

Police in Deerfield charged Andrea L. Farley, 48 on August 2 in response to a citizen’s complaint that an Irish setter dog was left inside the car, according to the Deerfield Review.

An officer found the dog “lethargic and lacking a source of water” inside the vehicle. All four windows were left open five to six inches, but the officer on scene had found the temperature in the vehicle to be 95 degrees.
