Business Owner Found Path to Becoming a Healthier Woman
Massage therapy owner tells of her journey during Woodridge Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business luncheon.
Making a midlife career change isn't without its risks, but sometimes it can result in all kinds of rewards.
That was one of the messages offered by Dale Anne Wright, owner of Touch Therapeutic Massage in Darien, when she spoke at the monthly Women in Business luncheon arranged by the Woodridge Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon took place Sept. 9 at Carrabba's Italian Grill.
Wright's presentation was titled "Becoming a Healthier Woman," and she detailed her personal journey toward fulfillment.

"When I talk about becoming a healthier woman, it goes beyond much more then just their physical health," Wright said. "It encompasses their mind, soul, spirit, their work and even their play. I encourage them to live in possibility."
Wright said that when she turned 50, she decided it was time to leave her job of 22 years with Copley Newspapers.
"At that point, my kids were done with school and I knew I wanted a new career," she said.
She went to massage school and then worked as a massage therapist at the Spa at Seven Bridges. After a few years, she decided she wanted to start her own business, and Touch Therapeutic Massage soon was born. Wright also sells Thieves Oil, a line of all natural cleaners and personal care products including soaps, toothpaste and mouthwash.
Patti McGehee, a State Farm insurance agent in Woodridge since 1978, was among those attending the luncheon.

"I came to the Women in Business luncheon because it's a great opportunity to meet other women and network," McGehee said. "I also wanted to hear and learn more about Dale's story."
Amy Melinder, President and CEO of the Woodridge Chamber of Commerce, sees a multi-faceted mission for the Women in Business meetings. She called it "a great opportunity for women to come together, make contacts, build relationships, share their expertise and strengthen both personally and professionally."
The next Women in Business luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 7, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Suparossa Ristorante & Pizzeria, 6310 South Route 53 in Woodridge. The guest speaker will be Deborah Chambers of Leadership Solutions Coaching. She is scheduled to discuss "Creating Success Strategies to Unleash Your Potential."
