Patch: What classes and programs are offered for children?

Hartenberger: Edward Health and Fitness Center at Seven Bridges also has lots of activities, on land and in the water, for kids ages six weeks to 15 years. The classes keep kids active and help them build habits that will keep them healthy for a lifetime.

Patch: Why should residents come check it out?

Hartenberger: Edward Health and Fitness Center is a medically-based center. That means its fitness experts are degreed and certified. They understand the science behind weight loss and cardiovascular conditioning so they can help members get results. Plus, they can provide guidance on stress management and healthy lifestyle habits. In addition, each member's first step is a professional fitness consultation in which cardiovascular conditioning, strength, flexibility, fat-to-lean ratio and other factors are evaluated. Based on the consultation, a fitness specialist creates a program tailored to the needs and interests of the member. The center also offers personal trainers who can teach how to exercise with proper form to prevent injury, add diversity to workouts to get over a weight-loss plateau, boost athletic performance with sport-specific training, provide accountability and motivation to get to the gym and develop confidence to try new fitness challenges.

Patch: Can you tell us about the spa?

Hartenberger: The Spa at Seven Bridges is also part of the Edward Health and Fitness Center and provides an opportunity for beauty and relaxation through massage therapy, manicures, pedicures, facials and holistic therapies, including body wraps, body scrubs and polishes. The Spa is open seven days a week and open to the public.

The center is open Monday through Friday 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.edward.org/fitness or call them at 630-646-7900.
