Car Burglars Captured On Surveillance Video In Woodridge: Cops
Police say 99% of burglaries in June were committed on unlocked cars.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Police in Woodridge are asking the public for help finding suspects of multiple car burglaries that have taken place throughout the village. According to police, 99% of the car burglaries reported in June were committed on unlocked cars.
The police department shared surveillance video on social media that shows burglary suspects opening the doors of multiple unlocked cars. The burglars then ransack the vehicles, taking cash and valuable items.
These recent burglaries are part of a rash of car burglaries reported throughout suburbs surrounding Woodridge. In each case, an overwhelming percentage of the crimes were committed on cars that had been left unlocked.

In Naperville, police say 100% of recent burglaries were to unlocked cars. In Glen Ellyn, 90% of car burglaries in late winter were done on unlocked vehicles.
Police have issued a stern warning to residents to keep their cars locked and their valuables out of sight in the wake of this surge in burglaries.
