Woodridge residents  start seeing a savings on their electric bills this fall, with the average household saving $300 per year thanks to a new electric aggregation deal.

On Thursday, the Will Electric Aggregation Group selected FirstEnergy Solutions as the new electricity supplier for member communities, including Plainfield, Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Lemont, Woodridge, Channahon and Shorewood.

Under the deal secured by the Will Electric Aggregation Group, member communities are entered into a two-year contract with FirstEnergy Solutions at a rate of 4.83 cents per kilowatt hour.

According to the release issued by the Will County Electric Aggregation Group, there are no early termination fees associated with the program.

In March, voters in Woodridge gave the village the go-ahead for electric aggregation, which is the practice of “bundling” electrical loads of communities to seek a better price.

The 16 member communities in the Will Electric Aggregation Group comprise an estimated 300,000 residents.
