Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant: Bites Nearby

Enjoy hand crafted beer and a broad menu selection at the only Gordon Biersch location in Illinois.

The popularity of handcrafted beer has increased significantly in the past few years. The Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, part of a national chain, has been enjoying a steady following since its opening in the Bolingbrook Promenade in 2007.

Recently, Bolingbrook Patch asked its readers to name their favorite local restaurant, and Gordon Biersch popped up in a few comments.

Beer is obviously the first reason to visit Gordon Biersch. Its brewing philosophy adheres to the 16th century German regulation Rienheitsgebot—that beer shall be crafted from three ingredients: barley, hops and water.

The result is a selection of six regular beers offered throughout the year, including the ever popular Hefeweizen (of which its pronunciation is debated in true tomayto or tomahto style). An additional seasonal brew completes the list.

Gordon Biersch beers won silver and bronze medals in the 2010 World Beer Cup and the Great American Beer Festival. Its servers are well-versed and can help every beer palate find the right choice. An interesting note regarding alcohol-by-volume percentages—there is a difference, so some pack more of a punch than others.

The brewery also carries a full list of alcohol and non-alcohol beverage alternatives.

Now, onto another reason worth visiting Gordon Biersch—the menu. It has developed an impressive and original array of items: Begin with an appetizer of shrimp and chicken potstickers, add a gorgonzola pear salad, and select from entrees like Cedar-Planked Pecan Crusted Salmon, Brewer’s Chicken or a Kobe burger.

If you become a fan of Gordon Biersch on  Facebook, they’ll give you a coupon for an order of free garlic fries.

Customers can polish their dining experience off with a sampler dessert plate of New York cheesecake and Warm Apple Bread Pudding.

As they say in German, “Probst!” (Cheers!)
