Seasonal Coffees: Bites Nearby

Some people refer to coffee as “the nectar of the gods”; others view it as neccessary to their existence.

Coffee is so popular we now celebrate Coffee Month in August, Coffee Week (the last week in Sept.) and National Coffee Day on Sept. 29. 

Recent studies indicate coffee drinking can help lower the risk of some cancers. 

If you’re a true coffee lover you don’t need medical or commercial reasons to drink it. 

But local coffee shops want to entice you anyway with their seasonal fall flavors, all less than $5 for a medium-sized beverage.

 in Darien has brought back its Pumpkin Latte and Pumpkin White Chocolate Mocha. In addition, a portion of all packaged sales of one pound coffee is donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Try a little slice of pumpkin bread if you like.

 has locations in Darien, Lemont and Woodridge. Fall flavors are pumpkin and cinnamon and can be used in any hot or cold beverages. Dunkin’ Donuts Halloween sprinkle donuts are fearfully popular, as well as caramel apple donuts, and both pumpkin and cinnamon donuts and muffins. 

 in Darien is serving up a Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Pair it with a pumpkin muffin for a cold afternoon treat.

, located in Woodridge and Lemont, has been offering its Pumpkin Spice Latte for years and years. If you’re in the mood for something different, try the Salted Caramel Mocha—with sea salt sprinkled over the chocolate and caramel drizzles—with bakery goodies such as pumpkin scones or cinnamon muffins.
