Woodridge Eagle Scout Will be a Marine
Nicholas John Ritacco planned a mosquito abatement project to become an Eagle Scout.
An Eagle Scout from Woodridge has enlisted in the Marine Corp.
Nicholas John Ritacco, from Boy Scout Troop 109, was awarded Eagle Scout, the highest award in Scouting, on Jan. 22. Ritacco earned 21 merit badges to earn the honor and also completed a community service project.
Ritacco's Eagle Scout project focused on mosquito abatement, installing 17 bat houses in the Hawthorne Hill Woods.

The project took about a year of planning with the . Ritacco was involved in planning, obtaining the cedar wood, project management, design and construction and finally installation.
Ritacco is a senior at . He will leave for San Diego in August to start his Marine Corp. career.
