Woodridge Park District To Hold Public Hearing for Tax Levy Tonight

The proposed tax levy is a 4.037 percent increase over last year's levy.

The Park District's requested tax levy is a 4.037 percent increase from last year's levy, according to a public notice from the district on its website.

DuPage and Will Counties determine the actual levy extension in spring 2011. An increase to a district's tax levy is limited by the consumer price index and new construction and annexations in the community.

Because of these restrictions, the Park District expects the actual tax levy increase to be 2.95 percent over last year's levy.

That means for an average home in Woodridge with an assessed value of $271,705 in 2010, the tax rate increase will add $8.32 to the tax bill.

The Park District noted that its tax levy is higher than expected to capture as much new growth as possible.
