A former Oswego High School teacher convicted of sexually abusing a 17-year-old former student was sentenced to five years in prison in July 2012.
Dale Fry, 57, of Woodridge, began a relationship with a student in February of 2009, on the girl’s 17th birthday, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Nemura Pencyla. Fry obtained the girl’s cell phone number and began texting her, and the relationship escalated when he kissed the girl in a school elevator in March 2009, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors pointed to a string of more than 700 text messages between Fry and the victim, in which Fry declared his love for the victim. They also said he forced the girl to perform a sex act.
Robert Theodore, 60, of Woodridge, was charged in September 2012 with sexually abusing an athlete he trained.
It is alleged that beginning when the victim was 16 years old, Theodore had inappropriate contact with his victim on several occasions. The abuse allegedly occurred at Theodore’s home, the victim’s home and at a local gym where he would train the boy. It is further alleged that Theodore bought expensive gifts for his victim such as a specialized bicycle, clothing and an iTouch.
