• Cedar Lake man charged with OWI in deadly crash of passenger on I-65 (wgntv.com) — A Cedar Lake resident has been charged after an alleged intoxicated-driving crash on I-65 in Newton County that left his passenger dead. State police say the pickup he was driving struck a parked semi’s trailer Friday evening, and investigators obtained a hospital blood draw as the case continues.
   

• Kale Drake Joins RMS Racing (speedsport.com) — A national midget racing team based in Cedar Lake has hired 20-year-old driver Kale Drake to race full-time and work daily at its local headquarters. Drake, a past USAC Indiana Midget Week champion, moves from a top development team to RMS Racing for the full 29-race 2026 USAC tour, saying the Cedar Lake opportunity lets him pursue racing as his full-time career.
