ā¢ Chesterton agrees with Porter to terminate police dispatch by Oct. 1 (chicagotribune.com) ā Chestertonās Town Council has voted to end its joint police dispatch center with Porter by October 1 and move fully onto the Porter County Eā911 system, a change that affects how local 911 calls are handled. Police also warned that e-bike and e-moto crashes are rising in town and said enforcement will soon ramp up, including possible impoundments for repeat offenders. The council additionally confirmed June as Pride Month in Chesterton each year.

ā¢ Towns of Burns Harbor and Porter break ground for Marquette Greenway expansion (wimsradio.com) ā New segments of the Marquette Greenway in Burns Harbor and Porter are moving forward, and the Town of Chesterton is highlighting the project on its Facebook page. Two multi-use asphalt trail sections, funded by major DNR grants, will extend the regional path network along the Little Calumet River. Once complete, theyāll give Chesterton-area residents more options for biking, walking, and connecting to neighboring communities. Ā Ā Ā
