Condo Building Destroyed Near Crown Point (hoodline.com) — A condo building in the Lakes of the Four Seasons community near Crown Point was destroyed Monday afternoon by a fast-moving fire, but everyone inside escaped safely. Fire crews battled the blaze for hours at 5050 Spinnaker Lane, and investigators are still working to determine the cause as multiple households face the loss of their homes.

Indiana high school softball rankings: Updated SCAI polls for April 20 (indystar.com) — Crown Point’s softball team is ranked No. 1 in Indiana in the latest Softball Coaches Association poll, topping all Class 4A programs statewide. The rankings list the top 15 teams in each class, highlighting where Crown Point’s biggest competitors stand this week.
   

3. Cedar Lake man charged with OWI in deadly crash of passenger on I-65 (wgntv.com) — A 25-year-old Crown Point resident, Austin Lee Nichter, died after a pickup truck struck a parked semi on southbound I-65 in Newton County Friday evening. The Cedar Lake driver is now charged with multiple intoxicated driving and reckless homicide counts as the investigation continues.
   

4. James Austin (gaffneyledger.com) — Crown Point residents may recognize the Austin and McCormick families, as James Edward Austin’s brother D.J. McCormick lives in Crown Point. James, originally from Martinsville, Indiana, died in South Carolina at 37; his memorial service is Friday in Gaffney, with donations suggested to a Down Syndrome support organization.
   

5. Eileen Elizabeth Thomas (therepublic.com) — Crown Point readers are connected to this Columbus family through Eileen Elizabeth Thomas’s daughter, Beth Dallman, who lives in Crown Point. Eileen, 94, was a devoted homemaker and church member remembered for her love of quilting, travel, and family; services are this Friday and Saturday in Columbus, with memorial gifts suggested to major health charities or the Indianapolis Zoo.
