Staff say the animals are surprisingly sweet and well‑mannered, and you can see all available dogs on the shelter’s website. 
2. Penn prevails over Elkhart in clash of conference softball powers (southbendtribune.com) — Elkhart softball fans saw a heartbreaker as the Lions fell 6-5 to Penn in a resumed Northern Indiana Conference showdown, despite briefly taking a late 5-3 lead. Indiana State Police pursuit reaches 140 mph on I-94; Elkhart woman arrested (953mnc.com) — An Elkhart woman is facing multiple charges after Indiana State Police say she led troopers on a 140‑mph pursuit on I‑94 in northwest Indiana, testing just over the legal alcohol limit. Another passenger from Elkhart was also arrested on outstanding Elkhart County warrants, making this case particularly relevant for local residents following regional crime and court activity.
5. Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County celebrates 70th anniversary with Founders Celebration (wsbt.com) — A long-time pillar for Elkhart County kids just marked a big milestone, as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County celebrated 70 years of serving local youth with a special Founders Celebration.
