• Boat going at least 45 mph crashes on St. Joseph River, injuring 3 (wane.com) — Residents along the St. Joseph River in Elkhart County should know that three people, including a minor, were injured Sunday when a speeding boat slammed into a stationary one and all were hospitalized in Elkhart. The operator initially left but later called 911, and multiple local fire departments and the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office assisted as DNR conservation officers continue investigating.
   

• Elkhart Launches Three-Day Tree Blitz as City Works Toward 1,000-Tree Goal (wowo.com) — Elkhart is recruiting volunteers for a three-day "tree blitz" to help plant 600 more trees this weekend, pushing toward a goal of 1,000 new trees citywide this year. The Trees for the Hart initiative aims to double that by 2028, strategically restoring tree canopy to cool neighborhoods, manage stormwater, and improve streetscapes across Elkhart.
   

• Lilly Endowment Awards $3.75M Matching Grant to Community Foundation of Elkhart County (rv-pro.com) — Elkhart County is set to benefit from a $3.75 million matching grant to the Community Foundation, which could grow even more if local donations meet the match. Funds will bolster the flexible Fund for Elkhart County and support Countdown to Kindergarten, Elkhart River District improvements, and the Hunger Ends Here coalition, with fundraising running through mid-2028.
