City Of Fishers Accepting Applications For Mayor's Youth Council Program

Immersive learning program will take place monthly with hands-on learning activities outside the classroom and in surrounding communities.

FISHERS, IN — Juniors and seniors in the Hamilton Southeastern School district can now apply to be part of the City of Fishers Mayor's Youth Council, an interactive program offering hands-on opportunities to connect with the community. The innovative partnership between the City of Fishers, Fishers High School, Hamilton Southeastern Schools and HSE High School begins Thursday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. when students will step outside the classroom and in to surrounding communities. The program will take place each month with activities throughout fishers and nearby areas.

According to City of Fishers, Mayor Scott Fadness is challenging this year's participants to build an adaptive policy detailing how Fishers Parks and Recreation can launch and incorporate programming into the city's services offered to community members.

City of Fishers said students will earn credits and should expect to spend time outside of school hours working on projects or activities. Parent permission is required for students to be approved into the Mayor's Youth Council program. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, including including Wow!
