Fort Wayne police get approval for southeast, downtown outposts (wowo.com) — Fort Wayne residents in the southeast and downtown areas will soon see new police outposts, after City Council approved low-cost leases to give officers nearby spaces to regroup and return to patrol faster. The council also reviewed federal grant spending for new medical equipment, forensic tools, training, and investigative technology to support local policing.

Fort Wayne Police Department traffic unit focuses on drivers who run red lights (journalgazette.net) — Fort Wayne drivers should expect stepped-up enforcement at busy intersections as the Police Department's four-officer traffic unit targets people running red lights, already issuing dozens of citations in a single afternoon. Officers are focusing on complaint-heavy spots like Coliseum and Lima, aiming to reduce serious crashes and also watching for violations of school bus stop arms.
   

3. Fort Wayne to target 'worst-rated streets' as part of $42M infrastructure plan (21alivenews.com) — Fort Wayne plans to pour $42 million into 2027 infrastructure, targeting the city's worst-rated neighborhood streets along with trails, sidewalks, alleys, and bridges across all four quadrants. Public Works leaders say the upgrades in areas like Westwood North and Centerhurst are chosen by need and are key to attracting new residents and businesses.
   

4. Science Central taking public survey as it develops 5-year strategic plan (journalgazette.net) — Fort Wayne residents are invited to shape Science Central's next five years through a short online survey and can also watch PBS Fort Wayne's first State of the Station broadcast this weekend. A free community cleanup Saturday on Coldwater Road offers a chance to unload bulky items, while new Purple Heart City signs now greet drivers at community entryways.
   

5. Arts Update: Fort Wayne music festival seeks acts (journalgazette.net) — Fort Wayne musicians have a chance to land a spot at January's Goldstock Music Festival at the Clyde Theatre, with video auditions due Oct. 8.
