Where Creativity Blooms Year-Round at Heritage Pointe of Huntington

At Heritage Pointe of Huntington, creativity is always in season.

Every Wednesday afternoon, residents gather for a beloved arts and crafts group that transforms the community room into a place of imagination, focus, and friendship. Whether they're painting canvases, creating seasonal decorations, or crafting heartfelt gifts, residents enjoy opportunities to express themselves while sharing meaningful time together.

Recently, the group has been exploring the art of sponge painting. Brad Fuller, Activities Driect said, “the technique may look simple, but it requires concentration, patience, and a willingness to experiment. As colorful patterns emerge on each canvas, so does a sense of accomplishment. The process is both relaxing and rewarding, giving residents a chance to slow down, focus on the moment, and create something uniquely their own.”

The weekly program is a true team effort. Heritage Pointe's activity staff members work together to support the group, with Activity Assistant Julie McKenzie often leading projects and helping residents bring their artistic visions to life. Throughout the year, participants create holiday decorations, seasonal crafts, and thoughtful gifts for fellow residents to celebrate occasions such as Christmas, Easter, and Mother's Day.

Many residents are especially fond of painting on canvas, while others enjoy trying new techniques and materials. Attendance varies from week to week, but the enthusiasm never fades. Some residents stop by on additional days to continue working on projects or begin new ones.

While the finished pieces are beautiful, the real masterpiece is the experience itself. Arts and crafts provide opportunities for self-expression, lifelong learning, social connection, and personal fulfillment. Laughter flows as freely as the paint, and friendships are strengthened with every project completed.

At Heritage Pointe of Huntington, creativity isn't just an activity. It's a way to connect, grow, and bring a little more color to each day.
