Allegiant Airlines Plans New Indianapolis Airport Base, Jobs

The low-cost Allegiant Airlines plans to create up to 66 jobs by the end of the year, and start operations in Feb. 2018.

INDIANAPOLIS — Allegiant Travel Company plans to establish a base for operations and new jobs at the Indianapolis International Airport, the low-cost airline announced Wednesday, Indiana Economic Development Corporation reports. Executives from Allegiant joined Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch at the airport Wednesday to announce plans to create a $40 million two aircraft base at Indianapolis International Airport, with operations aiming to start in Feb. 2018, IEDC reports. The release also said Allegiant Travel Company plans to create up to 66 new, high-wage jobs by the end of this year. Those interested can apply online now.

The new operations and jobs will allow Allegiant to offer more new future routes, adding to the 23 routes Allegiant already serves from Indianapolis, South Bend, Fort Wayne and Evansville airports, according to IEDC.

Allegiant flights out of Indianapolis began in Feb. 2015, and the airline now offers 12 nonstop routes from the airport.
