The Walt Disney Company, KTRK-TV Houston Announce $1 Million Commitment For Hurricane Harvey Relief
'Day of Giving' will start with local ABC affiliates and Good Morning America, followed by a "call-to-action" for donations all day.

BURBANK, CA — The Walt Disney Company and one of its ABC television stations, KTRK in Houston, said they're committing to give $1 million cash to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, according to a release. The Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG) is also hosting a "Day of Giving" all day Thursday, Aug. 31 for those who want to donate in support of American Red Cross hurricane recovery efforts. The event begins in the morning with local ABC affiliates and Good Morning America, followed by a "call-to-action" for donations throughout the day on ABC, Freeform, Radio Disney and DATG social media platforms.
But that's not all, as all donations made by eligible Disney employees and other qualified organizations involved in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts will be matched dollar for dollar by Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation.
“Our hearts go out to everyone in the devastating path of this historic storm,” Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive officer, The Walt Disney Company, said in a release. “It’s hard to fully appreciate the impact, in part because it isn’t over yet. But we know thousands of people have lost everything and now face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together, and we’re using our unique resources and reach to help those in need.”
