• City of La Porte Parks and Recreation Announces 2026 Movies in the Park Schedule (greatnews.life) — Free Movies in the Park nights are returning to La Porte this summer, with four family-friendly screenings at Fox Park, Stone Lake Beach, and the Civic Auditorium lawn starting June 5. Each evening includes themed activities like recess games, a luau, and community partner booths, and residents are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and arrive early. 
• Local police officers graduate from the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (wimsradio.com) — La Porte County residents have a new academy-trained deputy on the streets, as Deputy Michael Matzke just graduated from the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy after earning multiple leadership and fitness honors. The sheriff’s office is publicly celebrating his achievements, while neighboring departments in Valparaiso and Burns Harbor also welcomed back their own newly trained officers.
• Purdue University Northwest graduates urged to hold onto virtues amid technological advancements (greatnews.life) — A La Porte student, Simon Kubaszyk, is among Purdue University Northwest’s top College of Technology graduates, earning a Chancellor Medallion for academic excellence. The commencement ceremony celebrated over 1,600 candidates as speakers urged graduates to embrace technological change while holding onto human values like empathy, judgment, and service to their communities.
