Tippecanoe council likely to OK 2027 budget, increase local income tax (jconline.com) — Tippecanoe County officials in Lafayette are poised next week to adopt a 2027 budget with a 5% raise for county employees and a roughly balanced general fund. At the same meeting, the council will consider a 0.1% local income tax increase starting in 2027 to fund jail, community corrections, and a possible $22 million juvenile detention facility, affecting most Lafayette taxpayers.
   

2. Evonik boosts capacity and capabilities with North America infrastructure investments (pharmamanufacturing.com) — Evonik is planning a global-scale lipid production facility and major modernization at its Tippecanoe site in Lafayette strengthening the plant's role in U.S. drug substance manufacturing. The company is upgrading reactors and systems over five years to boost capacity, reliability, and energy efficiency, positioning Lafayette as a key hub in a growing biopharmaceutical network.
   

3. 01215065 HJ Bids W. Laf. (newsbug.info) — Contractors are being invited to bid on additions and renovations to West Lafayette Fire Station No. 3, with sealed bids due Sept. 29 and documents already available. Local firms in Greater Lafayette can compete for multiple bid packages, from general trades to masonry and electrical, with minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses encouraged to participate.
   

4. West Lafayette Police Department hosting Flock camera discussion (wlfi.com) — West Lafayette police are inviting residents to a Sept. 22 public meeting at Margerum City Hall to discuss Flock automated license plate reader cameras and address privacy concerns. With about 60 cameras across Greater Lafayette, including Purdue's campus, the chief says they're used for criminal investigations and missing persons, and promises accountability if officers misuse the system.
   

5. Indiana Supreme Court halts ballot distribution in Deery-Copenhaver race amid appeal (jconline.com) — A state senator from West Lafayette, Spencer Deery, has convinced the Indiana Supreme Court to pause ballot distribution in his closely contested Senate District 23 race while he appeals a recount ruling. The court's stay signals it will weigh his argument that otherwise valid ballots were wrongly tossed over clerical errors, with oral arguments set for Sept. 10.
