1. WWII Vetran honored on 100th birthday (wlfi.com) — A 100‑year‑old World War II veteran who worked decades at the Lafayette Farm Co‑op was honored at a West Lafayette birthday celebration. Local leaders, including Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski, joined family and friends to share stories, present awards, and thank him for his long service to both country and community.

Drivers face delays as work begins on Indiana 28 (jconline.com) — Drivers around Lafayette should prepare for lane restrictions and a full closure on parts of Indiana 28 starting on or after August 24, with a detour sending traffic along Teal Road through the city. INDOT says the chip seal and follow‑up fog seal work should wrap by early September, extending pavement life but requiring slower speeds and extra caution.
   

3. Game of the Week Preview: Harrison at West Lafayette (wlfi.com) — West Lafayette and Harrison kick off the 2026 high school football season with a rivalry game that has recently tilted toward the Raiders. EPA Wipes Florida, Georgia, And Illinois Sites From Superfund Priority List (tampafp.com) — Lafayette residents may notice progress at the Tippecanoe Sanitary Landfill, as the EPA is proposing to partially remove the site from its Superfund National Priorities List after significant cleanup work. The move is part of a broader national update affecting 11 contaminated locations, signaling that long-running remediation here and elsewhere is reaching key milestones that could open doors for safer future land use.
