• Fire at vacant LaGrange home ruled intentional, investigation ongoing (cnaw2news.com) — An intentionally set fire damaged the front porch and part of a vacant home on East Mulberry Street in LaGrange late Monday night, but no one was hurt. LaGrange firefighters quickly contained the blaze, and police are assisting in an ongoing arson investigation after evidence showed the property had been used by homeless individuals.
   

• Avian flu confirmed in 2 Indiana duck flocks (wattagnet.com) — Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed this month in two commercial duck flocks in LaGrange County, affecting nearly 10,000 birds. These are the first U.S. commercial poultry cases in May and add to Indiana’s leading statewide total of affected flocks this year, including a previous case in a LaGrange County meat duck operation.
