• Indiana approved for mass SNAP benefit replacement after August storms (wowo.com) — Lake Village residents who receive SNAP and lost food in August’s storms are likely covered by Indiana’s newly approved mass benefit replacement for all of Lake County. Depending on when you got your August benefits, 15%–60% of your monthly allotment will be automatically reloaded around September 26, with no extra paperwork required, as part of a broader disaster recovery effort.

• Marion County judicial nominees taking initial step toward filling two vacancies (theindianalawyer.com) — Judicial vacancies in both Marion and Lake counties are moving toward being filled, with candidate interviews scheduled in Indianapolis next week and in Lake County on October 23. For Lake Village residents, the process will shape who hears major local cases, as finalists from both counties will be sent to Gov. Mike Braun for appointment.
