• La Porte County Sheriff's Office announces retirement of 'million-dollar dog' (wndu.com) — A well-known La Porte County Sheriff’s K-9, Bosco, is being officially retired as his handler continues recovering from gunshot wounds suffered at a Michigan City hospital in May. The pair spent eight years disrupting drug trafficking on area highways, and the department is honoring Bosco’s impact while his partner focuses on rehab and healing. 
• Blue Chip Casino Workers Join Teamsters in Historic Union Victory at Boyd Gaming (casinolifemagazine.com) — Workers who keep the slot machines running at Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City have voted overwhelmingly to join Teamsters Local 135, marking a first-time organizing win at the property. The 22 slot attendants and dual rates say they’re seeking higher pay, better benefits, and improved working conditions, and union leaders are now pressing Boyd Gaming to quickly negotiate a first contract.
