• Hobart receives sliver status in Clean Community Program (chicagotribune.com) — New Chicago has been recognized by Indiana’s environmental agency for achieving Bronze Tier status in the state’s Clean Community Program, alongside nearby Merrillville and Porter. Hobart just advanced to Silver Tier, with IDEM highlighting green infrastructure, stormwater improvements, and stricter environmental ordinances as examples of what participating communities are doing to protect local waterways and quality of life.
