• Notre Dame hires new band director (ndsmcobserver.com) — Notre Dame has selected alumnus and current University of Kansas music dean Paul Popiel to lead its entire band program after the 2025-26 academic year, succeeding longtime director Kenneth Dye. Popiel, who earned his master’s at Notre Dame in 1995, will oversee the Band of the Fighting Irish and more than 500 student musicians across athletic, concert and jazz ensembles.
