Iowa Tornado: 18-Wheeler Narrowly Avoids Large Twister

Video shows an 18-wheeler driving past a tornado just before it levels a barn and moves across a highway in Gilmore City.

GILMORE CITY, IA — An 18-wheeler narrowly avoided being hit by a large tornado in Iowa on Tuesday evening as it hit nearby structures and moved across a highway.

Video shared to the Weather Channel shows an 18-wheeler driving in severe weather conditions in Gilmore City, Iowa. A funnel cloud sends roofing from several nearby farm buildings flying and demolishes one of the buildings as the 18-wheeler drives away from the storm.

The tornado then moves across the highway, covering a wide area of ground.

Multiple tornadoes and severe storms swept through the state Tuesday, causing widespread property damage. No injuries have been reported.
