Company Gives Grant to Iowa State University to Help Kids Pursue Agriculture Careers

The $400,000 grant is expected to impact more than 500 Iowa students during the next five year.

Johnston-based DuPont announced Thursday it will give a $400,000 grant to Iowa State University to help Iowa kids who live in urban communities pursue careers in agriculture and science, according to the Des Moines Register.

The company said in a statement to the Register that the grant will help the ISU Science Bound program increase the number of ethnically diverse Iowa students pursuing careers in agriculture, science, technology, mathematics and engineering.

The grant, funded through its seed and genetics business DuPont Pioneer, is expected to impact more than 500 Iowa students during the next five years, the article said.

ISU’s science program started more than 20 years ago for students from middle
and high schools in Des Moines, Denison and Marshalltown, the Register reported. Currently, 378 students are enrolled.
