"As the community prepares for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, the City of Cedar Falls would like to issue a reminder to the public."
An enclosed mall may remain open but must limit the number of customers present to 50 percent of its maximum occupancy capacity.
Starting as early as Wednesday, May 20, 2020, construction will begin on Ashland Avenue from Acorn Lane to Pin Oak Drive.
The contractor will begin reconstructing the sidewalk on the south side of West 3rd Street to be completed in 6 to 8 weeks.
To protect against the spread of COVID-19, Cedar Falls City Council meeting taking place on May 18, 2020, at 7:00 PM via videoconference.
Residents will be able to submit questions starting May 18 – May 20 at 10:00 AM.

City Hall will be reopening May 18 under regular hours, under COVID-19 restrictions, to the public.
The Hearst Center for the Arts will be also be canceling their summer camps to protect against the spread of the virus.
The City of Cedar Falls is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to replace our current document management software.
The Cedar Falls Planning and Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for May 13, 2020, at 5:30 PM will be held via Videoconference.
To protect the community from the spread of COVID-19, the Black Hawk County Police Memorial Event will be canceled this year.
For the contractor to perform this work, a full road closure will be in effect for five (5) to seven (7) days.
eginning as early as May 11th, 2020, Midway Drive will close south of University Avenue.
Due to the work being done by Canadian National Railroad beginning Wednesday, May 13th, the Big Woods Trail will be closed.

On Tuesday, May 12th, the contractor will be performing soil boring at the Olive Street Box Culvert between West 20th and West 21st Street.
Cedar Falls Recreation and Fitness Center will continue to be closed until at least May 15, 2020.
Starting May 13th, Canadian National Railroad will be closing E Main Street north of Lincoln Street for crossing repair related work.
Beginning approximately on May 12, the contractor PCI will begin rehabilitation work at the following locations.
From May 11th, the Iowa DOT and their contractor, PCI, will resume with final stages of construction for the IA 58 & Viking Road project.
In accordance with this proclamation, the following orders will now in be in place in Cedar Falls effective 5:00 AM on May 8, 2020.
Cedar Falls City Council meeting taking place on May 4, 2020, at 7:00 PM will be held via Videoconference.
Beginning Wednesday, May 6th, K. Cunningham Construction will begin working on the sidewalk on the north side of East 2nd Street.
The proclamation also lifted restrictions on spiritual and religious gatherings effective May 1 through May 15, 2020.
Cedar Falls is now at a 64.9% self-response rate for 2020 Census - That tops Iowa’s average of 61.1% but we still need your help for 100%.
As weather becomes warmer and residents take to the local trails, the City of Cedar Falls is reminding users to follow social distancing.
Trail users should be sure to also comply with Iowa Governor’s rules for social distancing, which includes keeping at least six feet away.

City Update: The Cedar Falls Transfer Station will remain open and continue to operate regular hours.
The closure is expected to last six weeks and be complete by July 1, 2020. For safety’s sake, please stay away from the construction area.
Due to COVID-19, Cedar Falls Transfer Station, located at 1500 State St., will be closed effective April 21, 2020, until further notice.
Beginning Tuesday, April 21st, the contractor will be performing a water service repair at 203 Main Street.
Below is how this will impact Cedar Falls starting the week of April 20, 2020.
These guidelines will be in effect starting at 11:59 PM on April 16, 2020, and continue until 11:59 on April 30, 2020.
From April 27th, 2020, the contractor will begin reconstruction work on the west half of Lilac Drive between McClain Dr and Rownd St.
Beginning April 20th, the contractor will begin work on the sanitary main crossing at the intersection of Main Street and 3rd Street.
The contractor will phase this closure to only be in effect on either Greenhill or Main Street at any given point in time.
