• Fired Iowa Teacher Accused Of Extra Credit For GoFundMe Donation (khak.com) — A Clinton High School paraeducator was fired after allegedly offering students extra credit for donating to her personal GoFundMe, which funded a planned medical mission trip to Ecuador. The Clinton Community School District deemed the move an ethics violation, and an administrative law judge later denied her unemployment benefits, calling her actions misconduct that misused her position with students.
   

• Eastern Iowa school districts receive behavioral health grant funding (cbs2iowa.com) — Clinton Community School District is getting new behavioral health grant funding to bring counseling and telehealth services directly into local school buildings. The Wellmark Foundation program aims to help students get earlier support without families traveling long distances, and gives districts flexibility to tailor services to their needs. Several other rural Eastern Iowa districts are also receiving funding.
   

• The Great Data-Center Rebellion (theatlantic.com) — Clinton residents are locked in a high-stakes fight over a proposed hyperscale AI data center that could cover 1,100 acres and dramatically reshape the city's west side. Neighbors, organized as Clintonians Against Data Centers, fear health, environmental, and quality-of-life impacts, while city leaders tout tens of millions in potential tax revenue. Packed council meetings and an evolving ordinance will determine what ultimately gets built.
