1. 72-year-old driver, dog injured after car strikes Des Moines home (weareiowa.com) — A 72-year-old woman was hospitalized after her SUV crashed into an apartment at Valley View Village on Guthrie Avenue in east Des Moines, also injuring a dog inside. Des Moines police say impairment and loss of control appear to be major factors, and their traffic unit is continuing to investigate before deciding on any charges.
   

2. Secretary Naig Announces Urban Water Quality Projects in Kalona, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines (ottumwaradio.com) — Des Moines is receiving state funding for two new urban water quality projects, including stormwater improvements at Waveland Golf Course and green infrastructure at First Unitarian Church that will help protect Gray's Lake. 4. 10 Des Moines residents sentenced in meth distribution conspiracy (who13.com) — Ten Des Moines residents have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a 2025 meth distribution conspiracy centered in the city. Federal prosecutors say the group distributed meth in Des Moines and beyond, with investigators conducting controlled buys and more than 50 search warrants during a six‑month probe.
