📰 News we're reading

• Downtown grant programs gets $50K boost from FY26 ending balance (newtondailynews.com) — Newton's city council has doubled the proposed boost for downtown grant programs, shifting $50,000 instead of $25,000 from the FY26 ending balance to support facade and upper-story housing projects. With several vacant or for-sale downtown buildings, officials say a stronger grant reserve will help attract investment while still keeping overall city finances in check.
