See details (kansascity.com) — A major 227-unit Canvas apartment project is now under construction on a long-vacant lot at 8036 Metcalf Avenue in downtown Overland Park, with opening expected in early 2029. Backed by city-approved tax incentives, the building will add new housing, retail, restaurants, and public parking, continuing the area's recent growth around the farmers market and other nearby developments.
   

• Johnson County coffee shop closed at spot that's housed 4 concepts in 3 years (kansascity.com) — Brew Haha Coffeehouse has closed its frequently turned-over drive-thru spot in Shawnee, but its original Overland Park location on Mastin Street remains open for coffee, crepes, and pastries. The Shawnee site has seen several concepts come and go in recent years, underscoring the challenges of that particular stretch along Shawnee Mission Parkway for small food businesses.
