Hurricane Harvey Louisiana: Beauregard Parish Schools Close
BREAKING: Beauregard Parish schools will be closed Thursday.

DERIDDER, LA — Beauregard Parish schools will be closed Thursday in the wake of Sabine River flooding that forced officials to recommend evacuations.
The school system in an announcement on its website Wednesday said the closure was "due to multiple road closures and anticipated additional rainfall."
The school system will watch rain fall totals and road conditions on a day-by-day basis to determine whether additional closures will be necessary. The school closures come after Parish Police Jury President Rusty Williamson strongly suggested that residents living along the Sabine River evacuate. A shelter is available at the Merryville First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Merryville.
Evacuations weren't mandatory for any areas in the parish.
