Hurricane Harvey Louisiana: Beauregard Parish Residents Advised To Evacuate

Residents living along the Sabine River​ are being advised to evacuate, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office said.​

MERRYVILLE, LA — Residents living along the Sabine River are being advised to evacuate as Harvey flooding continues to wreak havoc on the region, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Parish Police Jury President Rusty Williamson strongly recommended residents living near the river flee, the sheriff's office said. A shelter is available at the Merryville First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Merryville.

Evacuation is not mandatory for any areas in the parish, including Merryville. Residents are asked to obtain emergency response-related information from government organizations, including Facebook pages and websites.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles extended a flash flood warning for western Beauregard Parish until 8:15 PM Central time Wednesday. Flash flooding was already happening.

Other locations that the agency said would experience flooding include Leesville, Vinton, Rosepine, Anacoco, Singer, Fort Polk, DeRidder, De Quincy, Slagle, Starks and Fields.
