Rapper Mystikal Jailed In Shreveport On Rape Charge

The allegation stems from an incident at a Shreveport casino last October, KSLA-TV reported.

SHREVEPORT, LA — Rapper Mystikal turned himself in to authorities in Shreveport, Louisiana on a rape charge and was jailed on a $2 million bond.

KSLA-TV video-recorded the artist, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, entering the Caddo Correctional Center on Monday. Tyler, 46, of Prairieville, was wanted on a warrant listing a charge of first-degree rape.

The allegation stems from an incident at a Shreveport casino last October, the TV station reported. Online booking records show Tyler was in the correctional center as of Tuesday morning. Tyler was released from a Louisiana prison in 2010 after serving six years for sexual battery and extortion.

Roy Maughan Jr., a Baton Rouge lawyer who represents Tyler in some matters, said he was uncertain whether counsel has been retained for the current case.
