  1. About 3,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state of Louisiana, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. Out of the 2,993 new cases, 419 were reinfection cases. There are currently more than 1,300 patients in the hospital with COVID-19, and 130 patients are on ventilators. (BRProud.com)
  2. A West Baton Rouge jury has found a member of the Young and Reckless gang out of Pointe Coupee Parish guilty of second-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property. Darrell Braggs, 28, was charged for killing Jalael Leonard — a member of his own gang. Police say more than 30 shots were fired after they got spooked during a car burglary in 2021. (Post South)
  3. Two men were arrested after police said they stole a car and broke into dorms at LSU’s campus over the weekend. The LSU Police Department says six people reported their dorm rooms were burglarized between 2:30 and 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5. Both suspects are facing simple burglary, access device fraud, and theft of a motor vehicle. (WAFB)
