Here are the top stories in Baton Rouge today:

  1. An accused Baton Rouge bank robber will be retried due to a split-jury verdict. In 2019, Kevin Maurice Williams was found guilty on two counts of armed robbery with a firearm and sentenced to a 160-year sentence. However, with a New Orleans case, the U.S. Supreme Court outlawed non-unanimous jury verdicts, resulting in Williams' convictions and sentences being thrown out. (The Advocate)
  2. A Baton Rouge-based U.S. Marshal died after a vehicle accident while on a mission in Mississippi. Jared Keyworth was an 11-year USMS veteran. USMS Director Ronald L. Davis shared his condolences. (KLFY)
  3. Baton Rouge's Our Lady 0f the Lake announced plans for a $100 million new cancer center that will include medical and surgical oncology practices, a chemotherapy/infusion center, advanced imaging and diagnostics for treatment, an infusion pharmacy, an on-site pharmacy and a conference center. (WGNO New Orleans)
  4. West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office reported the shooting of 36-year-old Ernest Young in Port Allen on Sunday, but no further details are available. (WBRZ)
  5. The Department of Child & Family Services is investigating the death of 2-year-old Nevaeh Allen, which was ruled a homicide by the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office. (BRProud.com)
