Here are the top 3 stories in Baton Rouge today:
- Protestors rallied outside of the Governor's Mansion on Wednesday to urge Governor John Bel Edwards to veto new elective maps for the state. The demonstrators say the new district maps do not accurately represent the city's African American population. Activist groups including the NAACP have stated that they have lawsuits lined up in the event the governor does not veto the maps. (WAFB)
- The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for three men wanted in connection with an armed robbery and attack that happened in a Goodwill parking lot last week. Officials say the suspect approached the victim in the parking lot on Burbank Drive and went through his pockets before hitting him with a concrete brick. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the sheriff's office at (225) 389-5064. (WAFB)
- The city has removed barricades that were blocking the entrance to several Baton Rouge businesses. Bryon Clegg, the owner of CNI Wholesale Nursery, says the closure on the Auto Plex Drive bridge over Clay Cut Bayou had forced him to temporarily direct customer traffic through a nearby school. Officials first closed the bridge on Tuesday, citing structural concerns. (WBRZ)
