  1. Louisiana State University has acquired one of the largest collections of Black poems. The school will also receive a book once owned by Frederick Douglass. This comes as an important effort for LSU to preserve Black voices and their history. (The Advocate)
  2. In North Baton Rouge, many are located in what is considered a “food desert,” an area in which it’s difficult to conveniently find affordable and healthy foods. Many in the area who don’t have access to transportation have to rely on friends or family for a ride to the nearest supermarket or else walk the long distances.
