Here are the top three stories in Baton Rouge today:
- On Monday, the bodies of a mother and her two-year-old son were found separately in Baton Rouge and Central. According to Baton Rouge Police, the woman's boyfriend was arrested in connection to their deaths. Kaylen Johnson, 24, and 2-year-old Kaden Johnson were last seen on Mar. 5. The mother's body was found on Burbank Drive between Gardere Lane and Ben Hur Road, while her son's body was found on Central Thruway near Frenchtown Road. (The Advocate)
- A Baton Rouge engineer and a Slidell retired attorney with an engineering degree have been nominated by an independent committee that selects candidates for open seats on the east bank levee authority. Edward Wedge III of Baton Rouge and Thomas Fierke of Slidell are vying to replace Eugene Joanen of Folsom, an environmental scientist and consultant who announced in January that he would step down from the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East board. - Get ready for the long-awaited return of Baton Rouge's Annual Wearin' of the Green Parade. The Baton Rouge festivities begin this Saturday, Mar. 19 with a 5K Shamrock Run at 8 a.m. The 35th annual parade will roll out at Hundred Oaks Avenue at 10 a.m. with over 80 decked-out floats.
