Here are the top stories in Baton Rouge today:
- The East Baton Rouge Parish is set to spend $400,000 to create a new division tasked with giving more contracts to minority-owned businesses. It is supposed to help businesses by giving them the tools and resources to go after other government contracts in the state. This new proposed division resulted from a 2019 disparity study the city-parish commissioned. (The Advocate)
- Starting Friday, Dec. 17, the Ice Skating on the River event is coming back to the Raising Cane’s River Center. This holiday event will run until Jan. 3 and will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Ticket prices cost anywhere from $12 to $14 and are available for all ages. (BRProud.com)
- Baton Rouge Community College recognized Native American Heritage Month with a breakfast and panel discussion on Nov. 19. (The Advocate)
- A man shot a woman's caged dog and then threatened the woman with a gun over missing cellphones, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. (The Advocate)
