Here are the top stories today in Baton Rouge:
- The Louisiana State Penitentiary will hold a crafts fair since the rodeo was canceled due to the pandemic. The arts and crafts fair will be on Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The items for sale include handmade jewelry, leathercrafts, paintings, barbeque pits, swings, rocking chairs, and tables. (U.S. News)
- The Louisiana Art & Science Museum will host "A Halloween Day at the Museum" on Oct. 30. There will be planetarium shows, along with hands-on activities like designing a spaceship and painting a wand. There will even be a special showing of "The Astronomical World of Harry Potter" in the Pennington Planetarium. (The Advocate)
- Louisiana's teacher shortage, due to high percentages of teachers retiring and lack of teacher candidates, is raising alarms. (The Advocate)
