Here are the top three stories in Baton Rouge today:

  1. The Baton Rouge metro area is at "significant risk" for severe weather tomorrow, Mar. 23, as a storm approaches the region. Baton Rouge and Southwest Mississippi have been placed under a Level 4/5 (Moderate Risk) as storms developing Tuesday afternoon and evening may potentially produce tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail, along with heavy rain. Local residents may wish to modify any travel plans for tomorrow. (WBRZ)
  2. An 8-month-old infant who was abandoned in a Baton Rouge field was found alive and "in good spirits" last week by a team of local police officers and first responders. According to officials, the child's mother, who had reportedly suffered medical issues, turned herself into the Harding Road fire station on Mar. 15 and told officials the next day about her baby. A helicopter spotted the infant near Saintsville Church after the mother helped police with the location. Authorities say he was taken to a local hospital for precautionary medical treatment, and no charges are currently pending. (Today.com)
  3. Baton Rouge officials are currently investigating an apartment fire that took place in the 3000 block of Victoria Drive early Sunday morning. Firefighters responded to a call just after midnight and found fire coming from the second floor of the building. They quickly controlled the blaze before it could spread to the neighboring units, according to reports. Baton Rouge Police Department and emergency services were also on the scene. (BRProud.com)
