🌱 Student Brings PAHS Positivity + BRPD-Community Relationships

Here are the top 3 stories in Baton Rouge today:

1. An 11th-grade student brought positivity and a love for old cars to Port Allen High School. Payton Bardfield explained that "school was rough at first because of the online learning with the hybrid schedule but PAHS did a great job of handling all of the changes that were necessary during COVID." According to one of her teachers, she is an excellent role model for her fellow students. (BRProud.com)
2. Baton Rouge Police are putting in an effort to build relationships with the community in hopes of combatting crime. They have been strolling through Dixie and Eddie Robinson neighborhoods and talking with residents. A spokesperson for BRPD said that too many lives have been lost that could have been prevented. 3. A Baton Rouge organization is doing its part to help a country in need. BR healthcare professional Ken Alexander is working to help out Alexander Jackson in Liberia to provide healthcare to people living outside the city limits. Alexander created the Raise Your Roof fundraiser to raise money that will help fund a clinic in Liberia for women, children, and families. (WBRZ)

• The Baton Rouge Zoo's birthday celebration, Zippity ZooFest, will take place on April 2nd and 3rd. They would love to have sponsors support this amazing community event. Also, they welcome family-friendly performance groups! (Facebook)
• Krewe of Orion is bringing the spirit and tradition of Mardi Gras to Baton Rouge on Saturday, Feb. 19! Join in on the fun as this nighttime parade features colorfully lit floats, masked and costumed riders, dance groups, and marching bands. (Facebook)
• (Gov.) Edwards plans to allocate $10.5 million to pay for the MJ Foster Promise Program. The program will allow certain students to attend any in-state community college for free. To apply, you must be 21 and enroll in a program that supports one of the five high-demand job fields, such as construction, healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, and transportation and logistics.
